Carol, over at May Dreams Gardens, started the Garden Bloggers Bloom Day.  I am now looking forward to this as one of my favorite days of the month!  It is kind of like a virtual garden tour.  You can go around to all of the garden blogs and see what is blooming in your friends’ gardens all over the world!  Another good thing about bloom day:  It is always the 15th of the month.  In March, that is the Ides of March.  In April (in the US) Tax Day.  The bloominess of blogging somehow cheers these days up.  Here are my blooms for April!

Officially Spring

My March bloom day post showed that we were still firmly in Winter.  I had pansies and camellias blooming.  This month, we are officially in spring!

From Upper left, left to right:

Top Row:  Indian Hawthorne, Coreopsis, Lady Banks Rose, Pig Squeak

Second Row: Scilla, Purple Homestead Verbena, Heuchera, Heuchera

Third Row: Tete a tete daffodil, Knockout Rose, Marigold

Bottom row: Daffodil, Honeysuckle, Bachelor’s Buttons

Notes:  To be “honest” the marigold and the pink heuchera are transplants that were in bloom when I bought them last Saturday.  Everything else has been growing in my garden for at least a year and are “naturally” in bloom.  The yellow bloom of the lady banks rose is the ONLY bloom on my three plants that hate me.  I might need to move them.  I had never seen these plants until I moved to Wilmington.  They are a thornless climbing rose with little yellow flowers, and they are a traditional plant here.

Enjoy bloom day and don’t forget to file your taxes!  Take the sting out of the occasion by visiting your favorite garden blogs to see their blooms!

love that collage, too. I need to learn how to do it. So, where did you visit in 2006 in Utah? there IS lots to see and do here, that is for sure.

Katie — looks like lots is happening in your garden. I like your idea of taking the sting out of tax day with garden visits. Certainly much more pleasant to think about than taxes!

It’s wonderful that spring is here isn’t it? Love the verbena, I have a lot of that too. It’s such a wonderful color. Your trumpet honeysuckle looks beautiful too. What is the rose in the top row?

Thanks for visiting everyone! The rose in the top row is the “Lady Banks Rose.” Pigsqueak’s scientific name is “Bergenia cordifolia”

    Have a great day!
