Do You Wish to Be a Contributor?

Thank you for your interest in contributing posts to Goorganicgardening.com! This site teaches and promotes all aspects of organic gardening, and we value interesting and unique perspectives and techniques from other gardeners. We will also publish wider environmental issues, but with it somehow related to gardening.

There are two types of contributors – single guest posts and ongoing contributors. If you wish to be an ongoing contributor, we can set you up with an author account in WordPress for you to publish at will (at least three times within the first year.) Ongoing contributors will have an image to all their posts, as well as an author bio page.

Content Guidelines

All posts must be unique, well-written, informative and not published anywhere else. Posts that are poorly written, not unique or have excessive promotional material will be rejected without feedback (sorry, there’s only so much time in a day.) Minimum length is 400 words and up, though keep it to around 1200 words. We may edit your post for length, grammar, or include our own links.

Read any post within the blog section of this site to become familiar with the type and quality of work we expect.

Most of our articles have images. We can provide our own. If you provide one, they must follow all copyright permissions. Most of our images have either been taken by our authors, bought from a stock photo site, or borrowed with a link attribution from social media sites such as Flickr (check the particular image’s creative commons license before sending). If the image is yours, you give us the right to publish that image for your single article only, and can request us via email to remove or replace it.

Most articles will have advertising on the beginning left, so please include any photos or bulleted lists after the third or so paragraph.

Author Compensation

Upon approval, authors will be compensated in one of two ways:

1. Financial – Based on length, we can pay you between $8 and $15 per article, payable via Paypal. If you wish to be on ongoing contributor, we can pay for up to two articles per month. You can include supporting links as reference, but not to your own site (if you own one) and only to quality government, university or recognized news media outlets. You can include an author byline, but with no links. Links will be checked for relevance, and may be edited. Or,
2. Promotional links – In lieu of payment, you may instead include up to 3 links to sites pertinent to your article’s topic (upon approval). A maximum of 1 keyword link to your website is allowed within the article, and 2 links in your author byline. If you wish to become an ongoing contributor, you can write as many articles per month as you wish, but they must all be unique, retain high quality standards, and will be proofed and edited.
