BRAVO! Great article! I have been experimenting with organic materials for my garden and the first rule I learned was that "it takes time." That's fine--all you need is to know this in advance and start things composting or put them in the ground a month or two before you plant.

Right now I'm working with coffee grounds (recycling--yay) in my soil about two months in advance of planting veggies (tomatoes, peppers, cukes). They release nitrogen. Last year I had trouble with my pumpkins bearing female flowers and I added crushed eggshells. The calcium made the females flower so it was great.

I'm very excited to see organic gardening finally "coming around". Trust me when I tell you you WILL taste the difference in your veggies, and your flower garden will love you for it too!

If everyone went organic, Monsanto would go out of business! If you can't grow your own organic produce, please demand it and buy it at your market, even if it is a bit more expensive (you might be surprised though, so check and compare!)
